Radon resistance is certified!

TAGOS is proud to announce that the PU foam obtained with our system ESAPOL 217.60 X1 / ESTAN 37 has been certified as HIGHLY RESISTANT TO THE TRANSMISSION OF Radon 222.

Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas and according to the WHO it is the second cause of lung cancer after smoking- Directive 2013/59/EURATOM has set an obligation on Memebr States’ governments to prepare a Radon Action Plan including mandatory measures to enhance the protection of inhabitants and workers from the exposure to Radon.

The transmission test is performed by exposing a sample of PU foam in a source chamber to a growing concentration of Radon222 and measuring the migration through the sample toward a receiving chamber. During the 7 hours of duration of the test, the maximum concentration in the source chamber has reached 100.108 Bq/m3 with an average of 47.746 Bq/m3 while the maximum concentration measured in the receiving chamber has been 191 Bq/m3 with an average of 149 Bq/m3.

The graphs here below show the measured concentration curves in the two chambers separated by the PU foam sample.

Our PU foam can fulfil the most stringent requirement that the EURATOM Directive has set for new buildings after 31/12/2024 (200 Bq/m3).
